Daily painting #21 - Kingsley Plantation - Plein Air painting

This tree drew me in, with it's twisting trunk and shadows on the ground. I painted this on location at the Kingsley Plantation in Jacksonville, Florida. The road in was a long winding dirt road, it set the stage as if I was traveling back in time to before the roads were paved. It was all untouched woods on the way in. I will be definitely be traveling back in time again, driving down that dirt road to visit Kingsley Plantation again.

I used oil paint with linseed oil and odorless mineral spirits as my mediums, my surface was a 9x11 unstretched canvas. I meant to paint only 5"x7" on that canvas but I got carried away and decided to let go of restrictions while painting this tree.

Thank you for following! See you tomorrow!
