This could very well be my favorite painting so far. There is something about the pinks, reds and slight orange color. It is mesmerizing to me. on the top right of the watermelon the light was shining through it. It is gorgeous. I used burnt sienna for a ground on this painting as well, wiping away the lightest parts with odorless mineral spirits. That paring knife is just like the one my mom had when I was a young child. My mother, brothers and I used to take long walks around Chatham, Massachusetts, exploring all over the place. Picking blackberries, crab apples or looking at leaves and identifying the tree it belongs to. I distinctly remember that knife in my mom's steady hands, cutting up fruit we brought or the tiny crab apples that we picked. Those were some of my fondest memories.
See you tomorrow!
